Rich losers
There are people who are rich, yet who don’t earn my respect. Because they’ve become rich not by serving others or producing products that people want, but by doing things that only benefit themselves. I call them rich losers. They’re often involved in things like crypto gambling, dropshipping, playing poker or or malicious affiliate marketing. If you do things that only benefit yourself, then it doesn’t matter whether you become ‘succesful’ (measured purely in money), because you still haven’t benefited other people. You still haven’t produced anything of value for your fellow man. Basically.. You still ain’t shit.
I have more respect for someone who cooks food on the street, serving dozens of people a freshly cooked meal every day, than someone who’s trading crypto.
Don’t get me wrong, I have no problem with people who doing that only benefit themselves. I and every person do loads of such activities too. But one shouldn’t derive their self worth or social status from it. No amount of Ferrari’s can make up for the fact that you’re only serving yourself.
To earn my respect, you should, as so far that your life circumstances allow you to, serve others. It starts with your immediate friends and family. It’s often easy to serve them because they know your skill sets and will ask you for help. But if you can, try to do something bigger than yourself and your immediate loved ones. Try making something that benefits strangers. People you’ve never met. There’s extreme joy in doing so. And the goal of benefitting others is naturally motivating.

The world would benefit from this mindset.
From time to time, I’ll hear someone (usually older) recommend serving others.
I was a little skeptical about this. However, it has become increasingly apparent that we (humans) need each other.
I think, “serving others” or working towards something bigger than ourselves leads to greater life satisfaction. I also think, I would feel regret if I didn’t do something positive for the world.
