Do many things

Great things do not happen on the first try. Many musicians record 50+ songs to select the 12 best ones for their album release. The rest gets trashed.

Similarly, many business owners have a graveyard of failed projects before they finally hit something succesful. Maybe it was having the right co-founder, or the right contact with a distributor, or some other unexpected tailwind that launched it into profitability.

When I start a painting, I never know if it will turn out good or bad. I try to visualize it beforehand but that doesn’t help much. I just have to start painting. It’s a gamble. I have to make a few paintings to produce one work I really like. Some things just cannot be planned.

People looking for love must first meet and date a bunch of people before they find someone they can have a relationship with. In the process, they risk being heartbroken, betrayed, ghosted, or just wasting their time trying to get to know people who turn out to be incompatible. That’s the price most people must pay to find a loving and healthy relationship.

This principle even extends to people who are highly skilled at what they do. They still cannot predict how their new creations will turn out. The key takeaway is that we just gotta try many different things and let the chips fall where they may.
